Some delayed updates on dipping my toe back into EVE
I should have posted this a while ago, but I’ve been busy with other things.
I’m trying to get all my ducks in a row in New Eden. There’s definitely some more plate spinning going on at first than I expected. But I think that’s to be expected. I already have one of my first orders, which fortunately the customer is not in a huge rush. I imagine I will have some screwups so I appreciate the time being given. I’m also trying to learn some new tools, just to give myself the best foundation for success. Some look quite promising so I am happy with that.
The order is for seven Bustards, seven Cranes and two Rheas. The last item in that list is definitely a lofty goal for me, I’ve never built a Jump Freighter before. And the cost complexities with that are going to be a challenge. But, I’d love for it to be something I do on a regular basis for sure. The other two, are a lot more straightforward for me. I’ve an incredibly large stockpile of materials from a few years ago, in particular for composites as I just was pumping those out on a regular basis. As an aside, I mentioned in the last post that I wanted to give reports on how I’m doing financially. I’ll save the first full report for when I have the time for it, but in terms of my starting position right now:
- Liquid ISK = ~60 billion
- PLEX = ~400 million
- Personal Assets = ~19 billion
- Corporate Assets = ~22 billion
- Total = ~101.4 billion
These are some rough numbers, and bigger than I expected! (heh). I do plan on being more granular, but not by a whole lot. I’ll report figures in the monthly reports in hopefully a more digestible way. I also would struggle a lot to value what BPOs I currently have, and it would just take time. So, I will not bother. My collection needs to be expanded that is a fact, but again a long term objective.
For the Bustards and Cranes, I’m expecting around a 1.8 billion ISK sale, which is not bad going for returning to the game. Profitability wise I need to confirm that, but a large amount of the “Corporate Assets” line above, is my materials depot, so I hopefully won’t need to source much from markets. I hope I can do more of what I call “direct to capsuleer” sales. It’s always my preference primarily for the fact it helps you form a relationship with someone else in the social game. Depending on the person or order, you can sell a lot of goods really quickly, with no market PvP required.
Other bits and pieces, I’m quite happy to stay in Azer for my primary home. I have some composites in the oven already that I will figure out the logistics of soon (another money burn more than likely). I will try to figure out more of that local industrial park to see what will work for me. I also need to fly around to my old markets and collect items that were from expired sell orders. I don’t think I will be relisting in the same places again, if I do, it will probably be a different product mix.
Hopefully I will soon be sharing how those Bustards and Cranes go, with what the profit turned out being. Along with an update on whether I build those Rhea’s or not, they will take time.
Thank you!

I've no real claim to fame when it comes to good photos, so it's why the header photo for this post was shot by Evan Day . You can find some more photos from them on Unsplash. Unsplash is a great place to source photos for your website, presentation and more! But it wouldn't be anything without the photographers who put in the work.
