A Day In Gaming: Intro
March 29, 2026
Starting a new series and a restart of life in New Eden
Recently I’ve been having a moment with regards blogging and like, RSS? It’ll be another post, but I have been starting to collect RSS feeds and putting them in a reader, curating my own part of the internet. I don’t think a tech related thing has given me as much joy as that project has. But anyway, tangent. I think I was kinda keeping my website and by extension blog, more tech focused. Which is fine, but it’s also my personal website and while I don’t think I want to deep dive my entire daily life here, I do want to share more.
So, as part of that, I want to start covering a gaming column. This idea is two fold; one, document what I get up to in the games that I play / games I currently play. And two, try to encourage more habitual blog writing by aiming for a post once a week. I want to document and also in a way, self motivate to keep doing some projects. I love setting goals and also trying to achieve said goals. Which is easier said than done! This is also partly an exercise for myself, I’m a fan of journalling, and I want to journal more. I think documenting what I get up to and my train of thought, could be interesting for some. Probably not that interesting for others, admittedly. Speaking of RSS, as time goes on I do plan to have multiple RSS feeds on my website, namely so folks can either only follow say, tech posts. Or, only follow gaming posts. The feed is already there today so you can have my unfiltered brain dumps in all their glory.
Actively Playing Now
Right now, there are three games in my rotation, and likely two of them will form the bulk of my writings
- Final Fantasy 14 - MMORPG that I’ve been playing since 2022 roughly. I play this predominately with some IRL friends, but I’m also in a free company (think guild) that I do Savage tier raiding with twice a week. I main Black Mage, for now at least. I have some struggles with the class when it comes to that level of gameplay. But I also really enjoy crafting and gathering.
- EVE Online - MMORPG that I started playing back in 2009, near continuously for around a decade, before I went into a more off again / on again relationship with it. The last time I played properly was in 2024. But, I recently resubscribed to the game again as I wanted to scratch the sci-fi itch. And also EVE can give you a level of complexity around tasks that I can often crave. Primarily I focus on industry, but I’ve also done lots of other things in the game. I plan to talk more about my plans for this stint of play through, which we’ll see how long this stint even lasts.
- Stardew Valley - You know when your fed up technology / the world and just want to disconnect and run away from everything? That’s Stardew Valley me, which is apt considering the opening cutscene of the game. I’ve another save game that I’m playing through which I started last year, I’m still only on the first in game year, just a bit into Summer. I’m spending most of my energy just watering blueberries since I dont have any sprinklers. I figured the basic level sprinklers were pointless for me. I’m trying to actually like, do everything for once in a save? Like, get to 100% on things? But also trying to not min-max it too hard cause I want the game to still be predominately chill for me.
Want to play next
It’s very simple. Pokemon. I want to catch the legendaries and mythical Pokemon. I get the slogan of the game is gotta catch em all. But I don’t have time for that. Best I can do is the legendaries and mythicals, that still involves me finishing…four mainline Pokemon games?? And I would like a Nintendo Switch 2 solely for Pokopia some time in the future also!
Conclusion
This is all a bit of an experiment, but hey, it’s my website! :D I’ll have a follow up post to this one talking specifically about EVE and my intents there. Having found a few other blogs in my RSS journeys that are also just talking about what they do in EVE, I want to contribute to that space too. We’ll see how long I last, could be days, could be forever!

I've no real claim to fame when it comes to good photos, so it's why the header photo for this post was shot by Evan Day . You can find some more photos from them on Unsplash. Unsplash is a great place to source photos for your website, presentation and more! But it wouldn't be anything without the photographers who put in the work.
