When You Forget About The Blog

Okay, forgetting is probably a strong word. I was definitely updating posts in the form of my release notes for various things over the last few months. I have been in some what of a transition phase for a while, with work and my personal life. So really, the motivation was simply not there to write new words. Self Hosting and other things took a bit of a back seat, but as I write these words now, I feel more excited than ever to start jumping back into things.
I will cover it in a future post, but in short I have brought the “self” in Self Hosting back to a lot of my services. Even though electricity prices have been increasing, I think any increase I pay will not be as much as I was spending on cloud providers. I still have a few things to move to my home resources, namely my monitoring stack. But once I do almost all of my services will be back at home again which will be nice. I have plenty of local hardware I am not using to the fullest, so I think it will be good to start to use it and who knows, maybe even justify an expansion of said local hardware.
Either way, there will be a lot more talked about on here over time. But, I am definitely adopting an approach of inconsistent, but hopefully high quality posts. I would like to move to other mediums too, such as video. But for now, I do have a backlog of blog posts I would like to work through first. Along with clearing out my side project backlog a bit more. So, feel free to come along for the journey!
Thank you!

I've no real claim to fame when it comes to good photos, so it's why the header photo for this post was shot by Adomas Aleno . You can find some more photos from them on Unsplash. Unsplash is a great place to source photos for your website, presentation and more! But it wouldn't be anything without the photographers who put in the work.

I write for the love and passion I have for technology. Just reading and sharing my articles is more than enough. But if you want to offer more direct support, then you can support the running costs of my website by donating via Stripe. Only do so if you feel I have truly delivered value, but as I said, your readership is more than enough already. Thank you :)
